The eight-storey heritage building, centrally located on the corner of Pitt and George Streets opposite Sydney’s Central Station, was purchased by Millett Group from the State Rail Authority of NSW. The historic building underwent a major internal renovation before reopening as Wake Up! Sydney Central in 2002. The first Sydney hostel of its size and scale, Wake Up! is a 540 bed purpose-built youth hostel incorporating a bar, restaurant, café and travel agency.
Opening in the basement of Wake Up! in 2002, Side Bar is an internationally recognised backpacker and student bar. Trading seven nights a week, the bar plays host to themed nights, DJs and live music and attracts a mix of backpackers as well as local and international students. The seven-storey heritage building, centrally located on Melbourne’s Flinders Lane, adjacent to famous Degraves Lane, was purchased in 2014 by Millett Group and is currently leased to multiple tenants across retail and education. At the time of purchase, the basement was home to a run-down bar and nightclub with a 24 hour licence. In 2015, the space undertook a major renovation and The Mill House bar was established.
